The reading from mass a couple of weeks ago was from 2 Maccabees 7, a great story of a mother and her 7 sons who suffered instead of forsaking God’s law. What can we learn about it for our day today? What are we being called to suffer for Jesus? I reflect on this 2 Maccabees reading.

I am an Evangelical convert to the Catholic Church and my goal is to be a part of the conversation of what it means to have unity in the Church. Why are there so many different Protestant denominations? Didn’t Jesus pray that we all may be one in John 17? How can we have unity with all this division?
